Castello di Ama
Castello di Ama, one of the most renowned names in the world of wine, sits in the heart of Chianti Classico. It was founded in the 1970s with the goal of restoring Ama to its former glory and producing a Chianti Classico worthy of competing with great wines from the world's most prestigious regions.
Alongside producing wines of undisputed quality, Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti created the "Castello di Ama per l'arte contemporanea" project, through which they seek to hand down the beauty and soul of Castello di Ama to future generations. The project is built on installations by artists invited specifically to create site-specific works that engage with the spirit of the estate and its ancient village.
A careful symbiosis of wine and art
Given Castello di Ama's many areas of interest, our biggest challenge was creating an organic sitemap where no content would overshadow the rest. The user experience was designed so that, from their very first visit, users clearly understand the site's structure and everything it offers. We achieved this with an "exploded" menu that shows the entire sitemap at once, without forcing users through a fixed path of pages.
This way, each area of interest has its own space, and users enjoy the smoothest possible browsing experience despite the substantial amount of content the new Castello di Ama website offers.
Headless commerce
The online shop was implemented with Commerce Layer, using headless commerce to design the shop's structure exactly as needed.
The interface is fully optimized and customized based on the user's country and the device they browse on.
The benefits of microservices
A microservices architecture (with separate data backups) delivers a complex product that, despite some data redundancy, can be managed very simply by company staff who are not necessarily developers.
With this solution, Castello di Ama can separately manage customers from different parts of the world, the product catalog and display items.
