The Department for Digital Transformation now has the most modern and scalable website in the Italian Public Administration, ready for a multi-experience future.
The Department for Digital Transformation needed a CMS to organize team content production in a more dynamic way. The website also had to be fast, to respond quickly to the new demands of an ever-changing digital landscape.
A custom, replicable design system
Starting from the Bootstrap Italia guidelines, we faithfully reproduced the mockups and built additional custom components, which are now part of a design system that can easily be replicated across any Public Administration body
A truly accessible Public Administration
To make browsing simple and intuitive for everyone, the team worked on color and font contrast to align with the best practices set out in the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). For accessibility, the Department for Digital Transformation website earned an "AA" rating.
Flawless work on the code
Every stage of development was reviewed to keep the code easy to understand for future work.
The Ruby code is extremely clean and easy to manage and maintain. It follows the formatting rules and conventions of standard linting, specifically RuboCop Lint.
DatoCMS, the best ally for adapting pages and content
The choice of CMS greatly simplified the Department for Digital Transformation's work. Being able to set up roles and permissions made it possible to involve the entire editorial team and plan work internally more effectively.
A single CMS instance made it possible to produce content that adapts easily to multiple devices, creating multichannel experiences without duplicating anything. The headless nature of DatoCMS made it possible to build fully customized pages using modular blocks.
Beyond the traditional idea of the Public Administration
The fully optimized frontend and the work done on the information architecture made the Department for Digital Transformation website one of the fastest in the world: just 0.4 seconds for the first load! It also scored 100/100 on Google Lighthouse.
This collaboration has opened the way to a new vision of the Public Administration in the digital space.
