Linking Art

Linking Art is an innovative idea for the art world. It started as a vision, became a university thesis and grew into a startup developed within the Incubatore Tecnologico del Comune di Firenze, where it won an award for its high innovative value.

The new art marketplace

We decided to start with an MVP built on DatoCMS and a static landing page presenting the project's aims, summed up in a cultural "Manifesto" section. The first goal was to study and fine-tune the meritocratic selection process together with the client.

Branding

Linking Art's goal is to make art accessible to everyone, so we developed a brand built on simple yet strong marks. The logo is made of three parts, each with a pattern representing an artistic style; different styles come together to form the A of Art. The color palette is distinctive and high-contrast, the patterns are made of basic geometric shapes, and the sans-serif typography is clean and essential. We also created advertising pages for the trade magazine Arte.

Website

In the first phase we focused only on communication, designing the brand and the mood that would accompany the development of the whole project. The landing page stayed live for about 3 months and was used to collect the first expressions of interest through a single CTA and to get the brand into the trade press.

Static ecommerce

Ecommerce platforms are usually highly dynamic applications: availability, search, shipping calculation and the entire checkout process. With this project we experimented with integrating DatoCMS with Snipcart, a SaaS checkout and purchasing system that plugs easily into static sites through a RESTful API. We structured the database and the CMS product models, organized into categories, handling the typical ecommerce attributes: weight, dimensions, quantity and price. At checkout, this information is sent to Snipcart, which manages first the cart and then the sales process. The result is a lightweight, high-performance platform without the burden of development and maintenance, while on the frontend we kept complete freedom, free of external constraints.
