The 2014 edition of Better Software wrapped up just a week ago. It's an eclectic Italian conference on management innovation that, over its 2-day program, covers a wide range of topics presented by experts in technology, agile methodologies, business organization and User Experience. Over the years, Better Software has become a meeting point for managers, innovative entrepreneurs, freelancers and developers.
This was Cantiere Creativo's second year as one of the event's organizers, together with other companies and professionals active in the Italian IT scene.
We took this on because we believe it's important to actively take part in and promote a better vision that can bring to Italian businesses methods and concepts that are already well established, especially abroad. We also feel it's our duty to showcase the best practices of companies in our own landscape that are already moving in this direction.
To broaden the perspective, after the positive response to the last edition, this year Better Software again featured prominent international guests such as Dan North (@testapod), author of Behaviour Driven Development, along with two "Italian minds abroad": Luca Sartoni (WordPress/Automattic - @lucasartoni) and Davide Casali (@folletto). Their contribution was hugely valuable.
The hands-on workshops were a big hit, letting attendees “get their hands dirty” and try out some of the topics live.
On the content side, we contributed a talk by our own Matteo Papadopoulos (@spleenteo), who summed up the benefits and doubts of testing in software development; here you'll find the slides and the full transcript.
We'd also like to thank Juana Alvarez (@juana_10), our beloved Argentinian designer, for restyling the conference website's graphics and the printed materials.
After just a week of well-earned rest, we're already working on the 2015 edition with new ideas. Also in the works (or, as we say, in the “cantiere”) is a series of in-depth workshops in various cities, and we'll definitely keep you posted! ;)
Thanks to everyone who took part and helped make this Better Software 2014 even better!
