How do I access the Media Area?
Once you log in to your site on DatoCMS with your username and password, you'll find the Media Area in the top-left bar, marked by the images icon.
You can also edit image names, metadata and focal points directly from the image block on each page of the site.
How do I upload new images?
With “upload new assets”, on the right side of the Media Area, you can upload new images by selecting the folder on your computer to pick them from.
How do I search for images in the Media Area?
Once you open the Media Area, you'll find the search icon at the top, where you can search for an image by name. When you have a large number of images, you can also run filtered searches. Each filter can be added with the “+” in the search bar. A combination of filters can be saved under a specific name.
This feature shows once again how customizable DatoCMS is. Filters let you create themed folders to make your work easier. We talked about it in our other blog post
Next to the filter bar you'll find the “saved filters” field, which lists the custom filters you've created.
Can I change how many images are shown and how they're displayed?
You can see how many images are in the Media Area both from the number in the top left and at the bottom center below the images. You'll also see how many images there are per page and how many pages there are. Click a page number or “next” to browse the different screens.
You can also zoom images and change their layout using the controls at the top center.
Can I change how images are sorted?
Images can be sorted by various criteria. Choose the one that suits you best from the menu next to the search icon.
The sort order can follow different criteria: most recently created, file size, resolution, alphabetical order and last updated.
How do I delete or edit images already in the Media Area?
Below each uploaded image in the Media Area you'll find a small checkbox that, once selected, lets you rename the image, delete it, edit its tags, or select and deselect it.
